PREMIER
MIDGET KIT. This attractive a.c/d.c mains valve radio was introduced in 1948
by the PREMIER RADIO COMPANY as a kit for radio enthusiasts to assemble. It
employs long & medium wave bands.
The
valve line-up includes :- 6K8, 6K7, 6Q7, 6V6, & METAL RECTIFIER.
The
cream bakelite cabinet was originally used on the pre- WW2 radios made by PILOT,
and known as the "LITTLE MAESTRO". Other colours of the PREMIER kit
radio cabinets, included brown. There was also a Tuned Radio Frequency (basic)
radio made with a cream cabinet.
Nowadays,
the thought of having a kit of parts to build a radio seems rather futile, especially
when radios are so cheap in comparison to the early days. However, many people
enjoyed building their own radio, and found that cheap mass production methods
of today has unfortunately spoiled their enjoyment !
