GRUNDIG
97. An attractive a.c mains receiver, employing long, medium, short, and
v.h.f (u.k.w) bands, in a maroon plastic cabinet. There was also a cream
cabinet design available. This model was made in 1958, and although designed
for the overseas market, it works quite well in the U.K. The valve line-up
is :- ECC85, ECH81, EF89, EABC80, EL84, EM84, & METAL RECTIFIER.
These
sets have many "leaky" ERO type wax-paper capacitors, which require
replacement, and also a few resistors, which change value with temperature,
but seem alright when "cold".
My
set required a replacement mains transformer, which I acquired from a collector
in Germany.
These
a.m/f.m push-button radios from the 1950's are beginning to be come very
collectible.
