Bush DAC81
Made
in 1946, this AC/DC Mains valve radio (lw, mw, & sw), was one of a range
of sets that Bush introduced, when they were part of the GAUMONT group of companies.
Nowadays, Bush are a different organization altogether, possibly owned by Far
Eastern concerns !
My Bush DAC81 required a new ballast resistor in the power supply, as the original
had burned out. The scale lamps behind the dial, are wired up in series with
the valve heater chain (no shunt resistor wired in parallel), and are switched
, so that say medium waveband was required, only the scale bulb for that waveband
would light, and the other two lamps would be off. If any bulb filament was
to break, then that waveband would cease to work, until a replacement bulb was
fitted.
